Fire, aluminum duct, recycled Christmas trees, wood
Temporary national park, including an indoor, public fire-pit installed at Recess’s Soho storefront location in Manhattan. For two weeks, visitors were invited on a 24 hour basis to camp out, roast marshmallows and sing around the fire. A large part of this project was negotiating the lengthy bureaucratic process around fire permits in New York City.
Participants from the Whitney Youth Insight group enjoy the fire. For many people entering the installation over the course of the event, it was their first "camping experience."
